Digital marketing is advertising delivered through digital channels. It encompasses all marketing efforts that use an electronic device or the internet. This can be through social media, search engines, websites, blogs, email, or even mobile apps.

The internet is accessible to almost anyone, and the number of people engaging online every day is still increasing. To me, marketing has always been about connecting with your audience in the right place, at the right time. That means you need to be where your customers already are, which is the internet. This is where digital marketing comes into play.

Whether it is SEO, Content Marketing, Social Media, or PPC, digital marketing is forever changing. Digital marketers, like myself, are in charge of driving lead generation and brand awareness through all digital channels. As a digital marketer, we focus on different key performance indicators (KPI) for each channel, so that we can measure the company’s performance across each one.

I feel that digital marketing can work for any business in the industry, whether small or large. Regardless of what your company does, B2B or B2C, digital marketing will work for you in one way or another. A company can see accurate results in real-time when using digital marketing. You can measure ROI, website traffic, lead generation, content performance, and anything from an analytic standpoint.

With digital marketing, it is all about Reach, Act, Convert, & Engage.
1. Reach is a strategy to build awareness off-site, and in offline media to drive the web presence. This can include SEO, PPC, and online advertising.
2. Act & Convert go hand in hand. The act of conversion strategy is to achieve the marketing goals of leads and sales. This can include content marketing, conversion rate optimization, social commerce, or marketing automation.
3. Engage is so important! This is the process of retention and growth strategy to build customer and fan advocacy, sales, or even repeat customers.

So as you can see, digital marketing is about utilizing all digital technology available to achieve marketing objectives. Digital marketing is essential for a business to be successful today.
